This application enables the user to create arbitrary waveforms that can be subsequently played into an Instron bioreactor system. The waveform can either be imported from a scanned hand drawing (in PDF, JPEG or PNG formats) or from a series of points created using a text editor or Excel.
With the scanned hand drawn approach, an Instron authored MatLab routine is used to convert the image into a series of points. The total number of points, points per second and maximum amplitude are used to set the resolution, duration and amplitude of the waveform. The end result is a waveform text file that can be read directly by Growthworks.
When starting with an existing user generated point file, the Instron authored MatLab routine remaps the source point file to one that has the desired resolution, frequency and scaling. As with the scanned approach, the final file can be read directly by GrowthWorks.
This application was created by Instron to enable users to easily create an unlimited number of stimulation waveforms for their research studies.
